Moen Fence Installation: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide

Moen fence installation in Long Beach typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete replacement, and that number holds whether you’ve got a 50-foot side yard or a full 200-foot perimeter. The price gap comes down to material choices: pressure-treated pine sits at the bottom of that range, while premium cedar and redwood with steel posts land near the top. Before you call anyone, walk your fence line and check what actually failed. Most Long Beach homeowners discover the problem the same way: a gate that drags after rain, posts leaning in the sandy soil near the coast, or boards that crumbled where the sprinkler system soaks them every morning.

We’re an independent contractor serving Long Beach since 2005, not a Moen corporate installer. That matters because it means we source Moen-compatible parts at trade pricing and install them without the markup you’d get from a manufacturer-referred program. It also means we tell you the truth about whether a repair makes sense or whether the whole run needs to come out. So far, Moen’s fence line holds up better than most in our coastal air, but the hardware is where we see failures first. More on that in a minute.

Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen’s fence line isn’t as broad as their plumbing catalog, but the parts we stock cover the full current lineup. The two series you’re most likely to have are the Moen Yardline wood-composite fence and the Moen Decorative aluminum fence system. Yardline panels come in 6-foot and 8-foot widths with a tongue-and-groove interlock, and the aluminum series runs 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot heights with pre-assembled panels that slide into routed posts.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners don’t know: Moen changed the post cap design in 2019. Pre-2019 posts use a friction-fit cap that cracks in sun exposure, and the current snap-lock replacements don’t fit those older posts without a trim ring. If you grab the wrong cap at the hardware store, you’ll fight it for an hour and it still won’t seat. This is the kind of thing we catch in two minutes on-site. Measure the inside width of your post at the top: 3⅝ inches means pre-2019, 3¾ inches means current. We keep trim rings on the truck for both.

As for parts, OEM Moen brackets, posts, and caps hold tighter tolerances than most aftermarket replacements, and we recommend them on Decorative aluminum where the panels hide the hardware. On Yardline, a quality aftermarket fence bracket from a supplier we’ve vetted for years does the job at a third less. We stock KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products for our remodel work, so we’re not shy about mixing proven brands, but fence hardware is one place where the manufacturer’s own part usually wins in high-traffic spots like gates.

Signs Your Moen Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean at the corners and gate posts. In Long Beach, this is almost always soil saturation. Our sandy coastal soil drains fast but loses lateral grip when wet, and concrete footings the original installer poured too shallow start shifting after a few heavy winters. A leaning corner post isn’t just cosmetic; it’s pulling the entire panel run out of square.
  • Gate scrape marks on the concrete or pavers. When a Moen gate starts leaving a semicircle scratch on your patio, the hinge side post has moved. Moen’s hinge brackets are steel, but the post they bolt into is the weak link. The scrape line is the tell-tale sign of a post that’s lost its footing.
  • Aluminum panel rattle on windy days. That rattle means the panel-retaining clips inside the post channel have backed out or snapped. Long Beach gets enough afternoon crosswind that a loose panel will work itself free over months, and then you’re picking it up out of the neighbor’s yard after a Santa Ana event.
  • Yardline panel sag between posts. Moen’s composite boards are moisture-resistant, but the panel frame can soften if water pools at the bottom rail. Check the posts near your sprinkler heads; in East Long Beach especially, sprinkler adjustment overspray eats fences faster than sun does.
  • White chalky residue on aluminum posts and caps. That’s aluminum oxidation, and it usually starts at the fasteners where the anodized layer gets scratched during assembly. Left alone, it spreads under the powder coat. We see this more on fences installed within a mile of the water in Belmont Shore and Naples.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A low-threshold walk-in shower with a bench and grab bar

Plan on $3,500 to $9,000 for a full Moen fence installation in Long Beach. At the low end: a straight run of 60 to 80 linear feet with pressure-treated pine posts and Moen-compatible aluminum panels. At the high end: 150-plus linear feet with premium cedar posts, gate build-outs, demo of the old fence, and haul-away. Most jobs we quote land between $4,500 and $6,500.

Every quote is line-item. You’ll see exactly what the panels cost, what the posts cost, what our labor is, and what the old-fence removal runs. We don’t hide that the concrete for the post footings is a separate materials line, because it is a real cost and you should know it. If the price moves at all once we start, it’s because you added scope or the site revealed something the original builder buried. And no, we don’t hit you with a change order for hitting hard clay or a tree root. We’d rather keep the job moving than bill you for a dirty surprise under your yard.

The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing on every project. That includes post plumb, panel alignment, and gate swing clearance. If a gate sags within the year because our post settling was off, we’re back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

For a straight panel swap, a capable homeowner with a rubber mallet can replace a single Yardline panel on a Saturday morning. The panels slide out of the post channels once the top rail comes off, and the worst-case scenario is you ding a cap and we replace it on our next visit.

The line where DIY goes sideways is everything below the surface. Digging post holes in Long Beach means hitting utility lines, and we’ve seen old gas laterals running at 14 inches deep where they shouldn’t be. Post hole digging is also the most physically punishing part of fence work: two-foot-deep holes, 16 to 20 of them, in soil that’s half sand and half clay depending on your block. And if you mix concrete with the wrong ratio, your new Moen posts will lean before the first rainy season ends. The work tells you everything. The rest is just talking. If the panels are shot but the posts are plumb, DIY the panels. If posts are moving or the gate’s off its swing, call us at (562) 512-6480 and we’ll walk you through what we see. Luca Romano’s the one answering half the time.
