Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide
Atlas driveway and paver parts replacement in Long Beach typically runs $350 to $2,800 depending on whether we’re swapping a single cracked paver, repairing a sunken section, or rebuilding a failed base under a driveway. We stock Atlas-compatible pavers and edging on our trucks, and for most single-paver or small-section repairs we can have it done the same week. The way most Long Beach owners discover a problem is simple: they notice a paver that wobbles underfoot, a low spot pooling water after rain, or an edge course that has started spreading into the planting bed.
Luca Romano has spent almost two decades working driveways and hardscape across Long Beach. What he sees most often is not the paver itself failing. It’s the base underneath giving out, usually from years of Southern California’s wet-dry cycles doing the quiet work of eroding sand and fines out from under the joints.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas pavers are a common sight in Long Beach hardscape jobs, especially the Holland stone and cobble profiles you see on older bungalow driveways in Belmont Heights and Bluff Park. The good news is that Atlas paver dimensions follow the standard modular sizing system, so a 60mm Atlas Holland stone is a direct fit for most other 60mm Holland stones on the market. The compatibility gotcha is thickness: Atlas sells both 60mm and 80mm pavers, and a 60mm replacement dropped into an 80mm driveway will sit visibly low and throw off the entire plane.
Check the underside of any lifted paver. Atlas stamps their name and the paver size on the bottom face. If the stamp is worn, measure the thickness with a tape. For color matching, Atlas runs were consistent within a batch but sun-faded over time, so a brand-new paver next to a 10-year-old one will be noticeably brighter. We typically pull a few pavers from a less visible area to blend and set the new material where nobody is staring at it. Aftermarket equivalents work fine for structural replacement, but for color-critical areas we recommend sourcing actual Atlas product or letting us blend from on-site stock.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Wobbling or rocking pavers. This is almost always a base problem, not a paver problem. The sand bed has migrated or washed out, leaving a void under the stone. One rocking paver is an early warning; a cluster of them means the base is failing in that area.
- Water pooling in low spots. Long Beach gets just enough rain to expose a bad grade fast. If water stands for more than a few hours after a storm, your base is settling unevenly and the pavers are following it down.
- Edge courses spreading outward. The edge restraint has failed or was never installed properly. Without a solid edge, the whole field can slowly drift, especially on sloped driveways like the ones in Signal Hill and Naples.
- Joint sand disappearing between pavers. You sweep sand in, it disappears within weeks. That means water is moving through the joints and carrying the fines out, or ants have colonized the sand bed. Both are slow-motion failure.
- Visible cracks across multiple pavers. A crack running through several stones in a line is usually a point-load issue: a tree root, a heavy vehicle parked repeatedly in the same spot, or a poorly compacted base layer beneath that section.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Long Beach Atlas driveway and paver work, here’s what you can expect to pay installed:
- Single paver replacement: $350 – $700 (includes matching, base touch-up, and joint sand)
- Small section repair (under 100 sq ft): $700 – $2,000 (lift, re-base, re-set, re-sand)
- Edge course repair or replacement: $500 – $1,500 (including new edge restraint)
- Full driveway rebuild with Atlas-compatible pavers: $7,000 – $18,000 (removal, new base, new pavers, compaction, joint sand)
The cost range is driven by paver thickness (80mm costs more than 60mm), the depth of base failure, and whether we can salvage and re-use existing pavers or need to bring in new material. We write the price before we start, and that number does not change at the door. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the base sinks again or a paver shifts within a year, we come back and make it right. No argument, no invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. If you have a single paver that’s cracked and you want to swap it yourself, you can absolutely do that: lift it with a flat bar, knock the old sand level, set the new paver, sweep joint sand. It’s dirty work but not complicated. Wear gloves and glasses, and don’t pinch your fingers between pavers.
Where DIY goes wrong is when the base has failed. If you have a sunken section, water pooling, or edge spread, you need the pavers up, the base re-excavated and re-compacted, and everything re-graded. Do that wrong and you’ll be back out there re-setting pavers every spring. We bring a plate compactor, the right aggregate, and a laser level. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call (562) 512-6480 and we’ll come take a look. The estimate is free.
FAQs

A properly installed Atlas paver driveway in Long Beach typically lasts 25 to 40 years. The pavers themselves rarely break down; what fails is the base, especially in areas with poor drainage or where the original install was compacted loosely. Your maintenance years come from the sand joints, not the stone.
Yes, in most cases a failing section can be lifted, the base re-compacted, and the same pavers re-set, which costs significantly less than full replacement. If the pavers themselves are cracked or the base is completely washed out down to the native soil, replacement of that section is the more honest fix. Call (562) 512-6480 and we’ll tell you which one you’re dealing with.
A single-paver swap takes under an hour on site. A small section repair with base rework is usually a one-day job. A full driveway rebuild in Long Beach runs three to five days depending on size, access, and whether we need to haul off old base material.
We carry common Atlas-compatible paver profiles, edge restraint, and joint sand on our trucks, so many single-paver and edge repairs can be handled on the first visit. For color-critical matching or larger sections, we source Atlas product directly or blend from pavers salvaged on your property. We also work with parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone surfaces, so if the driveway repair is part of a bigger exterior or interior project, we can price it all in one written estimate.
