Boxabl Fence Installation: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide

Boxabl fence installation in Long Beach typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a standard perimeter, including posts, panels, hardware, and labor. We carry Boxabl-compatible fence systems on our trucks and can usually start within a few days of your free estimate. Most Long Beach owners discover they need this when a post leans after a winter storm, a gate stops latching, or the bottom rail separates from the panel frame.

This page covers what actually goes into a Boxabl fence install here, what fails first, what you should expect to pay, and how to tell if you can patch it or need a full replacement. We’re an independent contractor in Long Beach, not affiliated with Boxabl, but we’ve installed and repaired enough of their fence systems to know exactly what works and what doesn’t in Southern California coastal weather.

Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

A wide opening with a new beam where the kitchen wall was removed

The fence system we install works with all current Boxabl Casita configurations that include the optional perimeter fencing package, plus any Boxabl-compatible modular fence additions ordered after delivery. The key compatibility point is the post-to-panel connection. Boxabl uses a proprietary bracket system that locks the panel into a channel on the post face, not a standard U-channel you’d find at a big-box hardware store. If you’re measuring a replacement panel, check the distance between bracket holes: Boxabl panels run 72 inches wide with 4-inch post faces, and the bracket spacing is 31-1/2 inches center-to-center on the panel edge.

OEM panels are solid and we recommend them if you can get them without waiting six weeks. Quality aftermarket powder-coated steel panels made to the same 72-by-48-inch dimensions will fit the bracket system and often cost 20 to 30 percent less. We’ll show you both options at estimate time. One gotcha we see regularly in Long Beach: homes near the coast in Belmont Shore and Naples get salt air, which eats standard zinc hardware in about three years. We use 316 stainless bolts on anything within two miles of the water, and we recommend the same even if the original install used galvanized.

Signs Your Boxabl Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after wind or rain. This is almost always a footing problem, not a post problem. The original concrete pour was too shallow or the post base sat in standing water. In Long Beach’s clay-heavy soil, posts sunk less than 24 inches will move within a few wet winters.
  • Gate won’t latch or drags on the ground. The hinge side has settled or the gate itself has racked. Boxabl gates use a welded steel frame, so if the gate isn’t square anymore, the frame welds likely cracked under weight. That’s a replace-the-gate situation, not an adjust-the-hinge one.
  • Panel rattles in the wind or feels loose at the brackets. The bracket teeth have worn or the bolts backed out. Loose panels stress the bracket slots and eventually crack the post channel. Tightening won’t fix a stripped channel; the post face needs a repair plate or the post gets replaced.
  • Rust bleeding from the bottom rail or post bases. Especially in Long Beach’s ocean-facing neighborhoods, trapped moisture inside the hollow frame corrodes from the inside out. You won’t see the worst of it until the rail splits. If you see rust lines, the clock is running.
  • Panels pulling away from each other at the seam. This means the post has twisted or the concrete footing has heaved. Foundations in Long Beach’s expansive clay shift seasonally, and a twisted post no longer holds both panels in the same plane.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A single-story rear room addition with tall windows and a new patio

A full Boxabl fence replacement in Long Beach runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed. That range covers material and labor for a typical 40 to 80 linear foot perimeter. You’re looking at the lower end if we can reuse your existing concrete footings and the posts are still plumb. You’re at the upper end if every post needs new footings dug, or if your yard in neighborhoods like Los Altos or Bixby Knolls has tree roots or retaining walls we have to work around.

Line-item pricing: posts run $45 to $85 each, 72-by-48 panels run $110 to $190 each depending on OEM vs aftermarket, gate frames run $350 to $650 built and hung, and labor runs $45 to $70 per linear foot including post setting, panel mounting, and gate adjustment. Every quote is written and itemized before work starts, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the install for a full year. If a post shifts or a gate stops closing within that year, the second visit is free.

Fence Component Typical Installed Cost (Long Beach)
Steel post, set in concrete $45 – $85 each
72″ x 48″ panel (OEM or aftermarket) $110 – $190 each
Gate frame, built and hung $350 – $650 each
Labor (post setting, panel mounting, gate) $45 – $70 per linear foot
Full perimeter, typical 40 – 80 ft $3,500 – $9,000

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check your own post bases by clearing away soil and looking for concrete cracking or water pooling at the one-inch mark. You can also tighten bracket bolts if they’re visibly loose. Beyond that, this is not a forgiving DIY project. A fence panel under wind load carries a lot of force, and a post that lets go can take out a section of fence and whatever is next to it. We’ve also seen Long Beach owners dig into irrigation lines and old gas laterals trying to set posts by hand.

If you’re comfortable with the small stuff, do the small stuff. If a post is leaning, a gate is racked, or brackets are pulling out of the channel, call (562) 512-6480 and we’ll come look. The estimate is free, and you’ll get a written price before anyone picks up a shovel.
