Tremron Windows & Doors: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide

If you have a Tremron window or door that’s binding, leaking air, or won’t latch, we stock the replacement hardware and weatherstripping to get it working again. Typical parts-and-labor for a Tremron window or door repair in Long Beach runs $400 – $1,800, and full replacements land between $4,500 and $15,000 depending on size and series. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a window that suddenly won’t stay open, a patio door that scrapes the track, or a draft that shows up every January when the marine layer turns cold.

Sawyer Remodel Long Beach is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Tremron, but we’ve worked on enough of their windows and doors across Long Beach to know exactly which parts fail, which ones interchange, and when a repair is smarter than a replacement. Call us at (562) 512-6480 and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s a $40 roller or a full frame swap.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

A remodeled primary suite with built-in wardrobes and a window seat

Tremron windows and doors show up in a lot of Long Beach homes built from the mid-1990s through the 2010s, especially in tract developments around Bixby Knolls, Los Altos, and the East Side. The most common lines we service are Tremron’s aluminum-frame single-hung and horizontal-slider windows, plus their sliding patio doors in 6-foot and 8-foot widths. You’ll find the model label etched or stickered on the inside of the frame, usually on the top rail of the lower sash. Take a photo of it before you call anyone. The label tells us the series, the glass makeup, and the roll-form date, which narrows down which generation of hardware your unit uses.

Here’s the gotcha most people don’t know: Tremron changed their roller and latch hardware around 2008. Pre-2008 aluminum sliders used a narrower roller housing than the post-2008 versions. They look nearly identical, but the older roller won’t seat properly in a newer frame and vice versa. We keep both generations on the truck. For weatherstripping, Tremron used a specific wool-pile density in coastal-rated units. Long Beach’s salt air eats the cheaper aftermarket pile in about 18 months, so we only install the marine-grade version on units within two miles of the water.

When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, our rule is simple: for rollers, latches, and lock mechanisms, quality aftermarket parts from Caldwell and Truth match or beat Tremron OEM specs at half the cost. For glass units, there’s no shortcut. An insulated glass unit has to match the original thickness and spacer profile or it won’t seal. We order those direct through our glass fabricator, stamped to the same overall dimensions as the original Tremron unit.

Signs Your Tremron Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • Window won’t stay up or slides shut on its own. The block-and-tackle balance or spiral balance is worn out. On single-hung windows this is the most common failure we see after ten years of daily use. Fixing it usually means replacing the balance cartridge, not the whole window.
  • Patio door grinds or takes real effort to slide. The rollers are flat-spotted or the track is packed with grit. Long Beach air carries fine dust that works into the track and chews up nylon rollers. Cleaning the track helps for a week; replacing the rollers fixes it for years.
  • Draft you can feel with the window closed and locked. The weatherstripping has compressed or the wool pile has rotted. On coastal homes in Naples and Belmont Shore, salt air accelerates this. It’s a $40 – $80 part, and it’ll drop your cooling bill in August.
  • Lock won’t fully engage or feels loose. The frame has shifted slightly, or the lock cam is worn. This is also a security issue. A window that looks locked but isn’t is an easy entry point.
  • Condensation between the glass panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. No repair fixes this. The glass unit gets replaced, and the frame stays. It’s about a third the cost of replacing the entire window.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

For Tremron window and door repairs in Long Beach, plan on these installed ranges: roller or latch replacement runs $400 – $800 per unit, balance replacement $500 – $900, full weatherstripping on a sliding door $600 – $1,200, and an insulated glass unit swap $800 – $1,800 depending on glass size and Low-E coating. Full Tremron window replacement sits in the $4,500 – $15,000 range, and exterior door replacement, including a Tremron-compatible slider or French door, lands anywhere from $5,000 to $14,000 for a standard opening.

Every quote we write in Long Beach includes the part, the labor, hardware, disposal of the old unit, and a written warranty on the work. The price on the quote is the price on the invoice. No change orders unless you ask us to expand the scope. If you tell us the model label info over the phone, we can usually give you a firm number before we ever show up.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely check a few things yourself: clean the track on a slider, tighten visible screws on the latch plate, and check that the weep holes at the bottom of the frame aren’t plugged. Those fixes cost nothing and solve maybe 20% of the calls we get about Tremron units. Anything involving removing the sash to access rollers or balances is where DIY goes wrong. Window sashes are heavier than they look, the glass breaks easier than you expect, and if a balance spring lets go while you’re prying, you’re looking at stitches and a bigger bill than the original repair. Patio door rollers are the same story. The door has to come out of the frame, and a 6-foot glass panel on a bad angle is a two-person job with a specific lift technique.

If you’re not sure which category your problem falls into, call us at (562) 512-6480. Luca will tell you over the phone whether it’s worth your Saturday or worth our truck roll. Either way, you’ll know what you’re dealing with before you commit to anything.
